Artist Reception: February 17 | 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

My paintings, mixed media and performance pieces contemplate the contingent, the impermanent, and the possible in a world that often loses sight of these values.

From focused line drawings in ink, to figurative and abstract oil paintings, to drawings made with smoke and rain, the forms in this show draw on more than a decade’s worth of work that explores ways of being and understanding the world.

Tracy Taylor Grubbs is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in San Francisco, CA. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including the Oppland Kunstenter in Lillehammer, Norway; Galerie Podbrzie in Krakow, Poland; The Headlands Center for the Arts in San Francisco, CA; Arc Gallery in Chicago; and the Marin MOCA. In 2022, she was nominated for the SECA (Society for the Expansion of Contemporary Art) Artist Award sponsored by the San Francisco MOMA. And in 2023 she received an artist grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission. Her collaborative street performances with choreographer Hope Mohr were featured in the International Colloquium on Art History in Mexico City in 2021. She continues to work on The Gift, a project which focuses on shifting cultural capital of art away from the market by finding alternative ways for painting to circulate. She has studied art and art history at the San Francisco Art Institute and the U.C. Berkeley. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Political Philosophy from St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY.
