How often do CCHP retreats take place?
Commonweal offers CCHP six times a year, three times in the fall and three times in the spring. Sometimes there is a waiting list so it helps to apply early to ensure that you can participate. CCHP is also offered by the Smith Center for Healing and the Arts in Washington, D.C., Commonweal’s collaborating center. Both centers share staff, information, and other resources on a regular basis. Because we only take eight or nine people on each retreat (the ideal number for small group work), and conduct only six week-long retreats each year, it became an ethical imperative for us to help other centers to start their own versions of CCHP. There are now a number of these programs across the United States and Canada. Staff from many of these programs have participated in professional training programs at Commonweal, and we have heard good things about the experience of participants who attend these programs.
What does CCHP cost?
CCHP fee is $2,460 per person for the week, an all inclusive fee. The fee covers housing, meals, program, and materials. We are able to offer CCHP at this fee only because contributions from CCHP alumni cover half the cost of the program, and enable us to offer scholarship assistance to some participants who would not otherwise be able to join us. CCHP is, in this real sense, a gift offered by CCHP Alumni to participants who come after them. CCHP alumni know how profoundly the program affected their lives.
