Commonweal’s Center for Creative Community (C3) works at the intersection of creativity, community, and cognition. Through gatherings at Commonweal in Bolinas, trainings throughout the Bay Area, and the Power of Hope summer camp, the C3 builds engagement and creativity that nurture leadership and support community building. C3 work includes:
- The Power of Hope camp is a gathering of 45 youth (14 to 18 years of age) from diverse backgrounds and life situations, and 25 adult staff and volunteers who are visual artists, musicians, actors, storytellers, dancers, naturalists, community activists, change makers—all there to build a community in which everyone thrives.
- The Gathering Series at Commonweal convenes intergenerational groups from diverse communities across the Bay Area. The Millennial Gathering focuses on people in their 20’s and 30’s who come together for a day long gathering on Saturdays four times a year. The Fall Gathering is a weekend retreat for 70 people from different backgrounds, who explore meaning and ideas through fun and creativity.
The program coordinator works on all aspects of gathering and camp preparation and takes charge of logistics before, during, and after the event. The position is a part time job, with an average of 20 hours per week, and requires being fulltime onsite including overnights during the Fall Gathering and Power of Hope.
