Registration is required (see below) due to limited space on our grounds.
All activities will be held outdoors in shaded spaces.

We invite you to help us celebrate re-opening the Commonweal land to in-person engagement!

  • Hear a special New School conversation with TNS Host Steve Heilig and Dr. Anna O’Malley at 12:30 pm
  • Learn more about Commonweal and our programs, and meet program directors and staff
  • Walk our stone labyrinth or visit our Chapel
  • See The Alchemy of Place: an amazing art show in Gallery Commonweal featuring the artwork of 10 local artists
  • Tour the Commonweal Garden
  • Tour the historic radio facilities with members of the Maritime Radio Historical Society
  • Stay to dance to the music of El Radio Fantastique


Commonweal is a center for learning and research, transformation and discovery. Our programs work in the areas of health & healing; education & the arts; and environment & justice. We are located in Bolinas, California, on land that is part of the Point Reyes National Seashore.

COVID-19 vaccinations and masks are required inside Commonweal’s buildings. 


Schedule of Events

TNS talk with Steve Heilig and Anna O’Malley: Good Medicine: Music, Creativity, Culture and the Cultivation of Resilience (event space 1).

Welcome! Guests arrive and mingle. Welcome remarks from Oren Slozberg, Commonweal Executive Director (event space 1).

Commonweal Garden tour with Dr. Anna O’Malley, Natura Institute for Ecology and Medicine (meet at check-in table).

Come experience the medicine of the natural world in the Commonweal Garden. We’ll take an experiential tour of some of the healing elements and permaculture features of the Commonweal Garden and hear a bit about the medicine cultivated here.

  • Event space 1: Madeleine Corson, West Marin Review

An introduction to the West Marin Review, an award-winning literary and arts publication. Contributors from our most recently released Volume 10 will present a reading of poetry and prose. An artist will present some work and discuss the creative process. Books will be available for purchase.

  • Events space 2: M. Rako Fabionar, Innovative Learning and Living Institute (ILALI)

The Innovative Learning and Living Institute invites you to learn more about its pilot program, a transformative immersive residency for young adults, designed to support regional development. Join us for a “mini-immersive” experience that draws upon ILALI’s nourishing and inspiring approach for community-building.

  • Event space 3: Vickie Leonard, Health and Environment Literacy Project

The Western States Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (WSPEHSU) is one of 10 regional federally funded clinical and educational centers. PEHSUs are a source of medical information and advice on environmental conditions that influence the health of pregnant people and children. Our recent work includes work on wildfire smoke, safer disinfectant use during the COVID pandemic, use of masks by children, and climate change and health risks during pregnancy.

  • Event space 4: Kathleen Kraemer and other circle hosts, Healing Circles Global

An orientation to the experience of being in a healing circle. This will include a description of the program, the model that we use, why it has been so successful on zoom, and a brief Healing Circle experience for participants.

  • Event space 5: Jenyng Wu, projectSOUL

Join Jenyng Wu and project SOUL in a moment to be present and connect with each other in sacred space, to listen deeply to yourself and to others. You’ll be invited to explore your own story and see what flows from you into a greater community.

  • Event space 1: Robyn Muscardini, Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS)

VTS image discussion. As a facilitation method and professional development program that fosters collaborative, inclusive, community-building dialogue, VTS has the power to change the way we relate to one another as teachers, students, and colleagues.

  • Event space 2: Sharyle Patton, Commonweal Biomonitoring Resource Center

The mission of the Commonweal Biomonitoring Resource Center (CBRC) is to reduce toxic chemical exposures to people and to all life.

  • Event space 3: Barbara Sattler, California Nurses for Environmental Health & Justice

As Californians, wildfires affect us all in one way or another. But the effects of these devastating fires are not dealt with equally — farmworkers are an especially vulnerable population in terms of wildfire smoke and its associated hazards. Join us to discuss both policy changes and practical tips to better support our agricultural workers.

  • Event space 4: Angela Oh, Gift of Compassion

A sitting and walking meditation, hara exercises /breath training, and conversation about the Gift of Compassion work

  • Event space 5: Stanley Wu, The Resilience Project

Presenting The Resilience Project at commonweal, that touch on the site-specific projects, and, a conversation about moving from analysis to action.

  • Tour of historic radio facilities with members of the Maritime Radio Historical Society
