The Healer's Art Faculty Development Workshop: Participant Comments
What some past participants have said about the workshop
"Imagine a room filled with brilliant people who have already made important contributions to medical education who are now inspired to literally change the entire culture of medical education, and thereby the culture of medicine itself. We nurtured each other's hopes and visions and left with a very real sense that such a change can truly happen. It's very difficult to find the words to express to you what the Healer's Art Faculty Development Workshop meant to me both personally and professionally. I feel so completely blessed to now have a network of like-minded folk who I know are working for change in their own realms just as I am working in mine.
I know with a great certainty that the people at this weekend retreat will change medicine and medical education, and with this opportunity to get together and share our experiences we came away 'turbocharged' to do this work in a way we never could have done individually. Thank you...from myself, my institution, and especially from the students, who hopefully will not have to lose a part of themselves and then struggle to reclaim that part many years after their medical training."

"...My deepest gratitude to you...for the wonderful Healer's Art tradecraft... Not only was it an unique and vital stage in the dissemination of the Healer's Art curriculum, but it was true to the self-discovery process of the course itself. It was rejuvenating to see the transformation of medical school professors as they took on the mantle of Healer's Art educators."

"I have never been so moved by an experience as I was by the Healer's Art Invitational tradecraft workshop. It was truly a transformative experience. Already my relationships with my patients have been touched; even my personal life has been changed. Had I not experienced this myself I would not believe that a four-day workshop could change the way you feel about and view your whole life.
I look forward to being part of the team that helps spread your creation through medicine Ð you will change the face of medicine... We must make our doctors more human and humane. If there is anything I can do to help ensure that you will be able to offer this invitational workshop again and again, for many more people, please let me know."

"Through the integrative medicine fellowship at the University of Arizona, I have had the opportunity to meet some interesting folks, but I have seldom been as impressed with the "good work" you all are doing at ISHI...I still feel like I won the academic medicine lotto in being able to be a part of this work...I hope to be able to facilitate these goals further here in Madison."

"It was quite a profound meeting. I came with hopes of learning how better to take what I know about healing and convey it to students in a more compelling and inspirational way. I came away with new confidence to do that."
